What Makes Us Different

Most advocacy stop when the claims process is complete.

At Veteran Life, claims are the beginning of our work, not the end. We provide a full-lifecycle advocacy model that walks alongside you from first contact through to lifelong care.

This is what “full advocacy” actually looks like.

The 7 Differentiators

The 11-Stage Journey

A confidential, no-obligation conversation about your service, your current situation, and what you’re navigating. We don’t pitch. We listen, ask the right questions, and explain what’s available.

We help you obtain your ADF and civilian medical records, and we help you arrange medical appointments and any imaging required to prove the claim properly. Some imaging is bulk-billed, some has a gap. We work through that with you. After acceptance, anything you’ve spent comes back to you.

We build and lodge your Initial Liability claims once they are complete and we have gathered the required evidence. We do this via MyService, which is a digital platform very similar to your personal MyGov account. We don’t lodge incomplete claims. Since March 2025, DVA places incomplete claims on hold; we ensure yours is complete from the start.

While DVA assesses your claim, we apply for the Veteran Support Payment if you qualify, arrange provisional access to primary and allied health care, and check in with you regularly. The waiting takes a toll. You shouldn’t carry it alone.

Before DVA can accept your claim, we close the loop — from the doctors’ reports to your report, linking your service to the specific factor that caused the injury. We send the report to you for review before submission. You sign off; then we lodge.

Once accepted, you receive a White Card or Gold Card depending on your circumstances. Treatment for accepted conditions is funded by DVA — you don’t pay, the provider bills DVA. We coordinate the practical setup.

DVA rehabilitation has three streams — medical management, psychosocial, and vocational. Most veterans only get told about one. We make sure you understand all three, and that your plan reflects your whole life, not just one slice of it.

When your conditions have stabilised, we manage the Permanent Impairment claim. We talk you through lump sum versus periodic payments, when DVA give the determination, we send you to financial planners to talk through all of your options.

We never rush this — done properly, PI is the compensation you earned.

At 60+ impairment points, the Gold Card opens up. At 80+ points, the Severe Impairment Payment (SIP) and the MRCA Education and Training Scheme (MRCAETS) for your children become available. SRDP is a separate eligibility pathway which will be discussed at your financial planning meetings.

We map the thresholds; so you know what the options are, you make the decisions.

If a claim is rejected or partially accepted and the decision should be reviewed, we manage the Veterans’ Review Board appeals process — with advocates holding the appropriate IVA accreditation category for VRB representation.

Once acceptance is in place, Veteran Life Services takes the lead. Household services, wellbeing coordination, mental health pathways — free, ongoing, for life.

Our Commitment

For what they have done — this we will do.

Every veteran we engage with should leave the experience knowing the system worked the way it was supposed to. That’s the standard we hold ourselves to. That’s the standard we built Veteran Life to deliver.
